Borodin was a member (along with Balakirev, Cui, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov) of the group of Russian nationalist composers known as The Mighty Handful (or The Five). His masterpiece was the nationalist opera, Prince Igor. Other Borodin music includes: symphonies (such as Symphony No 2 in B Minor); the tone poem, In the Steppes of Central Asia; chamber music; piano music; and songs.
