Pomp and Circumstance. Op. 39.
Edward Elgar (1857-1934)
"Pomp and Circumstance" is the stately title of two military marches. They are similar in form, each being is strictly march rhythm with Trio. The first is in A minor, Allegro molto, the first part of the movement repeated after the Trio, and closes with a short Coda. The second is constructed in a larger manner, an introduction leading to the march. The Trio leads to a repetition of the first part, which is followed by the theme of the Trio. A short Coda concludes the spirited works.
