This work is held by the Gallerie dall'Accademia in Venice, Italy.




Claudio Monteverdi, circa 1597, about age 30, when he was still at the Gonzaga Court in Mantua, Italy. This is thought to be the earliest known image of Monteverdi.

This painting is now held by the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England.
