Rachmaninov was a Russian composer who in later life emigrated to America. Rachmaninov music includes: operas; symphonies; piano concertos (such as the popular Piano Concerto No 2 in C minor); the Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini for piano and orchestra; the tone poem, The Isle of the Dead; piano pieces such as the ever-popular and possibly over-rated Prelude in C sharp minor, sonatas, tableaux, and transcriptions; sacred music; songs; chamber music; and choral works.
